Stand: 10.09.2009New guide on the utilization of CDM in waste management projects

Elaborated by bifa Umweltinstitut within the framework of a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, the guide describes possibilities and options as to how the project-based mechanisms of the Kyoto protocol can be used for modern waste handling systems. The tools CDM and JI, the methodology which forms the basics for implementation and acknowledgement of CDM/JI projects and the refuse systems which contribute to climate protection as well as the potential for reduction of greenhouse gases in selected regions are presented in detail.

In addition, eleven country sheets complement the guide, offering detailed country-specific information that is helpful for the development of project approaches. The country sheets - currently available in German only - are available for the following countries: Eypt, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Tunisia and Ukraine.

The guidelines on utilization of the CDM in waste management can be found under RETech portal's section International/CDM-/JI-Initiative or following the link    http://retech-germany.net/english/topics/international/cdm/ji_initiative/dok/356.php.
