The Association of Local Utilities (gas supply, water supply, sewage, electricity supply, district heating supply, waste management and municipal cleaning) - VKU - represented within the sub-association Association of municipal waste management and city cleaning in the Association of Local Utilities (VKS im VKU)
The "VKS im VKU" is the leading municipal association for waste management, street cleaning and winter service. It represents the interests of public-law parties responsible for waste management and the enterprise branches and services connected therewith. A close cooperation is maintained with the federal government, state governments (Länder) and local government associations.
The "VKS im VKU" advises and informs its members in general questions regarding waste disposal, city cleaning and winter service and promotes the exchange of experiences in municipal waste management in a constantly changing market. By efficient lobbying, competent support and extensive services offered for the members, the "VKS im VKU" will maintain and strengthen the position of the municipal waste management.
The implemented merger of the VKS with the Association of Local Utilities (VKU) pools the forces of the municipal waste management and contributes to a stronger representation of the member's interests with regard to waste management in politics, economy and in the competition of the associations. The various services offered by the Association are further developed and adapted to the changing needs of the members. The members benefit not only from the various services offered by the "VKS im VKU", but also from the advantages of the membership in a large association, pooling all municipal supply and disposal infrastructure services.
About 410 enterprises and companies are members in the "VKS im VKU". There are another 200 sponsoring members, who are organised within a sponsors' association.
Participation at two largest waste management trade fairs. Organisation of trade events on current themes in waste management and city cleaning, accompanying trade fairs. The possibility for members to present their own companies as co-exhibitors in front of a wide trade audience.
The trade journal is released 10 times per annum. It offers the members current information on trends and themes in waste management and city cleaning. Member reports and messages from the expert and national committees are published as well as news around the VKS im VKU association work. It informs about events, developments and gives problem solving solutions concerning the business operating area of the association. The VKS-News gives a comprehensive theme focus in every issue and offers help in all respects.
The VKS im VKU publishes technical reports about praxis-oriented topics of waste management and city cleaning several times a year. The information, based on practical knowledge and experience, is compiled by the voluntary expert committees and also by projects and member surveys and serves as a support and source of information for our members. Members of the VKS im VKU receive one copy of the latest release.
