Concept and functions of the RETech focal point

The focal point is RETech's operational unit and its point of contact. Through the focal point, a large pool of qualified expertise and technology solutions can be accessed quickly. It can be reached through the online contact form), by telephone and by letter (for contact details, see legal notice).

Within the RETech focal point, representatives of five German associations (BDE, bvse, DGAW, VDMA, Federal Environment Agency) and authorities cooperate with the German Federal Ministry of the Environment in order to work towards RETech's goals. This cooperation is coordinated by Germany Trade & Invest in the pilot phase until 2011.

Germany Trade & Invest is responsible for the organisational and technical leadership of the focal point and and for its external representation. The coordinator reports to the advisory board and implements its suggestions in consensus with the focal point participants.

• Information on the latest in German waste management and recycling technologies (see Waste Management Made in Germany section)
• Information on the stakeholders of Germany’s waste management and recycling sector (see see Companies and Institutions section)
• Support in finding German business partners through the RETech portal (RETech company directory, integrated e-trade-center functionality)
• Procuration of contacts to German industry experts for international events
• Organization of contacts to German companies offering visits of their waste treatment or recycling plants

Further RETech focal point responsibilities

• Maintainance and further development the internet portal as RETech's central information platform
• Communication: Info materials, organising publications in the specialist media, planning and support in arranging conferences and workshops
• Creating and maintaining RETech's network
• Planning and implementing of support measures for German companies interested in expanding their activities internationally
• Planning and preparation fo research projects (e.g. country profiles on waste management)
