Capture and burning off of landfill gas without energy recovery dominate in the area of waste management CDM projects. Advanced technologies as composting and aerobic treatment are rarely being employed.
The research project addresses the use of advanced waste treatment technologies in CDM projects. Based on the technologies offered in Germany, utilization conditions for CDM projects are elaborated from a participating company’s perspective.
The research projects’ priority objective is to achieve that companies don’t need to acquaint themselves with the complex CDM rules before realizing the climate policy benefit economically. In addition, within the framework of the research project, information will be gained about the general conditions of a number of potential host countries and their needs for consulting services.
Within the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, the research project is closely connected to the CDM/JI Initiative and the Export Initiative Recycling and Efficiency Technologies.
