Exchange on the global recycling of biogenic waste

Exchange on the global recycling of biogenic waste at the 4th International RETech Conference

04. and 5. November 2021
Scandic Hotel Potsdamer Platz
Gabriele-Tergit-Promenade 19, 10963 Berlin
and Online via YouTube-Livestream

"Climate protection and resource efficiency are playing an increasingly important role both globally and nationally. It is becoming clear that only a functioning circular economy will make it possible in the future to effectively protect the climate on the one hand and meet the demand for raw materials on the other. A functioning circular economy enables genuine win-win solutions. Particularly in emerging and developing countries, where biogenic waste is not yet collected and recycled separately, the treatment and recycling methods presented at the conference offer an opportunity to actively counteract climate change," Parliamentary State Secretary Florian Pronold, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).

On November 4th and 5th, experts from the waste industry will meet in Berlin to exchange views on the topic of "Climate and resource protection through environmentally compatible collection and recycling of biogenic waste" within the framework of the 4th International RETech Conference under the patronage of Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze. Scientists, entrepreneurs, representatives of German ministries and associations as well as NGOs will share their experiences on framework conditions, challenges and best practice approaches in the countries of Ethiopia, Brazil, China, Greece, India, Colombia, Russia, Thailand and Tanzania.

The event will be simultaneously translated into English and broadcast live on YouTube so that international guests can also participate without difficulty. The technical papers and discussions will thus contribute to a holistic understanding of the challenges and solution strategies in the collection and recycling of biogenic waste worldwide.

The conference, which is funded by the BMU's "Export Initiative Environmental Technologies", is organized by German RETech Partnership e.V. in cooperation with the DBFZ (German Biomass Research Center), the University of Rostock and the Business Scouts for Development program of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Registration is possible via the registration link on the RETech homepage. Participation is free of charge and possible under 2G conditions on site. In parallel, the conference will be broadcast online via YouTube livestream.
