Recruiting of qualified employees

Alumniportal Deutschland

Qualified personnel with intercultural skills are in demand - not only in Germany but also in German companies with international operations. Employers are looking for well-trained staff with German (and other) language skills and an understanding of German culture and working methods.

The Alumniportal Deutschland is a social network that helps Germany alumni, companies, universities and other organisations to network and share information. Germany alumni are people from all corners of the globe who have studied, worked or carried out research in Germany. Companies around the world can use the portal free of charge to get in contact with Germany alumni and take advantage of their specific skills.

DAAD University-Business Partnerships

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) uses BMZ funding to support long-term partnerships between German universities and their counterparts in developing countries with the involvement of German and/or local business partners. The aim is to make higher education courses in developing countries more practice-based, to improve relations between universities and businesses and to contribute to sustainable economic development.

Senior Experten Service (SES)

The Senior Expert Service sends retired professionals on volunteer assignments around the world. They work in industrial plants, with tradespeople, for organisations and at local authorities. More than 11,500 senior experts are available to share their expertise and give advice in over 50 different sectors. Generally the volunteer assignments last between three and six weeks (and a maximum of six months). In some cases, the costs can be covered in part by BMZ funds. It is also possible to request follow-up assignments by senior experts in order to ensure sustainability.

Fit for Partnership with Germany - the Manager Training Programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy

Under the banner 'Training for Partnership', the Manager Training Programme of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) prepares management personnel from Eastern Europe, North Africa, Central Asia and Asia for new business relations and partnerships with German companies.

Through interactive and practice-based training, participants learn about the particularities of German corporate culture, how to present themselves in business situations and how to improve their negotiating skills. Company visits in various sectors give participants the opportunity to see examples of German business practice with their own eyes. They gain practical insights and knowledge first-hand from German business executives and are able to familiarise themselves with modern technology and equipment. Participants also come into direct contact with potential business partners. This gives all firms taking part in the programme access to business opportunities in their counterparts' markets - a win-win situation.

Zoran Djindjic Internship Programme of German Business for the Western Balkans

The programme is a joint initiative of the German private sector's Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The participating countries are Serbia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro. Every year, the programme places 60 highly qualified scholarship holders from the region in internships at top German companies.

For German host companies, the scholarship programme is an excellent and uncomplicated way to come into contact with highly qualified young professionals from the region through their work in Germany. Through the screening process, the companies receive dedicated and well prepared candidates, who they can trial for a later posting as a member of staff or representative in their home country. Many interns have successfully taken up positions in their home countries straight after returning from their stay in Germany.
